Student life

Before and after the bell

Killian Oaks offers a variety of clubs throughout the school year, and involvement in these specially designed and coordinated clubs enhances each student's educational experience.

Unless otherwise noted, clubs meet from 3:00 to 3:30 p.m. on their assigned day, and participation fees may apply to some activities. The day is bracketed by morning care and Homework Club, so the person helping with homework at 4:00 p.m. is the person who taught the lesson at 10:00 a.m.

  • Morning care7:30 to 8:00 a.m. for students who arrive early. All students on campus by 8:10 a.m.
  • Homework ClubMonday through Friday until 5:00 p.m. Small groups with Killian Oaks teachers finish the day's assignments and build organizational skills.
  • TutorialsIndividual and small-group sessions with our teachers after school, in 30, 45, and 60 minute blocks, in reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies.
  • UniformEvery school day, from Dennis Uniform or Lands' End. Requirements by grade

Leadership, the arts, and physical education

Leadership and public speaking

Leadership is developed through practice, responsibility, communication, and the confidence to contribute. Students organize their thoughts, express ideas clearly, speak with confidence before others, listen and respond respectfully, and accept age-appropriate opportunities to lead.

Art and performing arts

Part of the program in every division, because the growth of a student requires enriching experiences in every area of development. The assembly room, with its stage and the crest behind it, is where the school gathers for performances and ceremonies.

Physical education

Every day in Lower School, and in every division, supporting coordination, fitness, teamwork, and wellbeing while balancing the academic day.
